Discover Bruny Island – A Day of Flavour, Scenery, and Storytelling
Join us for an unforgettable full-day adventure exploring the natural beauty, gourmet delights, and rich maritime history of Bruny Island. Just a short journey from Hobart, this all-inclusive experience blends indulgent local produce, spectacular scenery, and heartfelt storytelling into a truly immersive island escape.
Company Director Craig Parsey, whose childhood was spent on lighthouse stations around Tasmania, including Cape Bruny, brings a personal connection and deep knowledge of the island’s history, people, and hidden gems.
Our first stop is a secluded beach, where we treat you to a picnic-style morning tea, “our way.” Relax by the shore as you enjoy fresh Bruny Island oysters, local cheeses, freshly baked bread, and tea or coffee. It’s the perfect way to settle into island time.
As we explore Bruny’s iconic sights, you’ll taste your way across the island, sampling hand-crafted fudge and chocolate at the Bruny Island Chocolate Co. and enjoying sweet local honey at Bruny Island Honey’s charming gift shop.
Next, we head to The Neck, the isthmus that connects North and South Bruny. Climb the stairs to Truganini Lookout for breathtaking 360-degree views over the island and its stunning coastline. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for the elusive White Wallaby, Bruny’s rare native resident. We then venture deep into the wild beauty of South Bruny National Park. Here, you’ll enjoy a truly special experience, an exclusive guided tour of the heritage-listed Cape Bruny Lighthouse, Tasmania’s only publicly accessible lighthouse tour, available only through Bruny Island Safaris. Stand on the windswept viewing platform and take in panoramic views of the mighty Southern Ocean.
After working up an appetite, we sit down for a delicious one-course lunch at Hotel Bruny, featuring the island’s finest local ingredients and stunning views over the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Satellite Island.
Throughout the day, our local guides share stories that bring the island to life, its Indigenous heritage, maritime legacy, and vibrant food culture, ensuring you don’t just visit Bruny Island, but truly experience it like a local.

Bruny Island Nice guide nice view nice food
A Must - best Bruny Island experience Jimmy was really an excellent tour guide. My husband and I had a great time with our Bruny Island tour experience. Highly recommended
Bruny Island trek Our guide Marina was excellent with commentary to and from and while we were on the island. It was very informative.
A Perfect Day on Bruny Island What an absolutely wonderful day out! From the moment we were picked up, it was clear this was going to be something special. Our guide, Jimmy, set the tone immediately — knowledgeable, warm, and full of fascinating insights into life on Bruny Island. He truly made the experience. This is a full-day tour, but the hours disappear in the best possible way. After a scenic ferry crossing to Bruny Island, we first stopped to taste the local honey. From there, we settled into a gorgeous beach stop for morning tea — a beautifully curated spread of local cheeses, freshly baked bread, and plump, freshly shucked oysters. It was the perfect introduction to the island's remarkable food culture.
The highlight for history lovers was a visit to the second-oldest lighthouse in Tasmania, where the local lighthouse keeper led us on a guided tour to the very top. The views and the stories were equally breathtaking. From there, we made our way to the famous isthmus — the narrow strip of land that connects the two halves of Bruny Island — for a short walk and some truly spectacular scenery.
A stop at a local artisan estate offered chocolate tasting (and optional whiskey tasting for those so inclined), showcasing the island's incredible artisans. Before heading back, guests had the chance to purchase fresh oysters to take home for the evening — a lovely final touch.
Lunch at the Bruny Island Hotel was a real highlight too. The portions were generous, the menu featured a wonderful variety of fresh, locally sourced food, and the relaxed setting was perfect after a morning of exploring.
The small tour bus was spotless, comfortable, and never felt crowded. Jimmy's expertise and genuine passion for the island made every stop memorable. Whether you're a foodie, a history buff, or simply looking for a memorable day out, this tour delivers on every front.
Wonderful experience Trip was very well planned and our guides Rick and Phil had a sound knowledge of the places we visited and narration was equally good.Could see and experience all major sightseeing places without rushing.
Food, history and lighthouse tour at Bruny Island Jimmy our amazing guide made the tour really interesting and enjoyable. If you like:
✅️ Fresh oysters
✅️Chocolate and/or whiskey
✅️honey
✅️cheese
✅️beautiful scenery and history of the light house
✅️delicious pub lunch
Then I would definitely recommend this tour.
Great day Great day! Its a long day but was nice to see Bruny Island this way.
Perfect day on Bruny Island Wonderful day exploring Bruny island sights and hearing about the history. David our tour guide was excellent. We highly recommend this lovely day trip!
A day on Bruny Island Saint Summer Blossom (Dave) was the host with the most cheesy sweet jokes. Dave was good fun, having a good vibe all day with passengers, full of information, recommendations and good banter. Dave was informative when doing stops, lunch and morning tea. The day itself was well organised with locations chosen all being good. Maybe a tour of the cheese factory could be on the cards in the future?.? All in all, was a great day exploring Bruny Island and would recommend #brunyislandsafaris
One of the best value for money day trips I've had I knew as soon as Jimmy picked us up with the bus, this trip was going to be great. His friendly greeting made us feel comfortable right away. And he continued to impress with his local knowledge and story telling, ensuring everyone was happy. From the fresh oysters, local cheese and stunning scenery, we couldn't have asked for a better day. To top it off he kindly drove us to out new accommodations, which was a welcome relief after such a big day. Well done. Would do it again for sure
Excellent day trip - thanks Jimmy Excellent. Ideal for those who love short walks/climbs to fantastic views interspersed with great local food.Highlights were morning tea on the beach with fresh bread, local cheese and the fattest oysters I've ever had (from Get Shucked), Bruny lighthouse and the walk outside around the top, and our fabulous guide Jimmy who was informative as only a local can be and entertaining to boot.
This trip is well worth it.
Mmmmmm I think be good to be able to explore the oyster place and see how things work. Same with cheese factory. I feel it was a very very very long day and alot of driving for just the lighthouse. The lunch was yummy. Not much room on the bus. Leg room is limited. But then the drive and the hour wait nearly for ferry was not great. Saying that out guide was great and deserves a huge praise. Not sure worth the money compared to all the other tours we have been on since been here.
Good driver Good driver informative punctual, tour as advised, good food went as planned
Glad l did it. I was the only one on the tour as it was the first tour of the day. Later tours were booked out. Get there early. Guide had vast knowledge of the Lighthouse and surrounding area.
A great experience A wonderful day seeing Bruny Island. Nigel was an excellent host providing a great morning tea on the beach and a wealth of information about the island’s history. The light house was spectacular, lunch delicious and most of all he got us back despite the ferry being broken. Thank you Nigel!
A wonderful morning at Cape Bruny Lighthouse An excellent and informative tour with our very knowledgeable guide. He was able to answer all my husband’s engineering type questions! Beautiful views over South Bruny Island and surrounding seas. It also helped that it was an absolutely stunning day! Thoroughly recommend the tour.
Wonderful day well spent on Bruny Island The tour was absolutely amazing, the food, the spots and the time schedule !! We got a chance to visit all the to-go list on Bruny Island, basically everything you've researched about Bruny Island, this tour covered!! Jimmy was such an experienced tour guide with a great sense of humor, he definitely made our day! Highly highly recommend this tour to anyone!
Nice variety of experiences provided in one tour Loved the oysters and the lighthouse tour. We didn't have the best weather but it was still a beautiful place. It was a nice combination of experiencing the flora and fauna of Bruny Island along with some good food. Our guide Nigel seemed a bit detached from the information he shared as part of our tour.We had picture perfect weather to enjoy the spectacular views, the interesting guided tour of the lighthouse and the views from the top, lunch at the pub, freshly shucked oysters, locally made cheese, beer, chocolate and honey. What a day! I thoroughly enjoyed.
Excellent company, sites and good food We had a fabulous day touring Bruny Island with a wonderful bunch of people. Our guide Nigel was very entertaining and informative. Loved our morning tea by the beach and the tour of the lighthouse.
Wild and beautiful Bruny The best experience of the day was our stroll on Adventure Bay sands and the wonderful picnic of oysters, local cheeses and bread.
Husband & wife tour This trip was excellent We had an amazing time and our guide Nigel was very knowledgeable. We had a cute little picnic onthe beach followed by an exclusive private tour of the lighthouse. Then a hearty lunch. We ate local oysters and cheeses. We finished on a sweet note and enjoyed a chocolate tasting. I highly recommend this tour it was fantastic.
Excellent Tour / Excellent Operator We had a fantastic day with our guide David, we didn't feel rushed through any part of our tour, and yet somehow he was able to keep us all on track and on time. His behind the scenes knowledge was exceptional and filled in the time between stops. The places chosen to visit were excellent and gave us a comprehensive look at Bruny Island. The food at tastings and lunch was exquisite. The coach was comfortable and clean, and although it was a long day, it did not feel like one. I would recommend this tour operator any day.
Breathtaking and stunning scenery It was a great day out and the tour took us to many beautiful places around Bruny Island. It was stunning. The tour guide Dave was knowledgeable and keep the bus ride fun. The food was also great especially the oyster (so fresh and so yummy) and lunch was great. Highly recommended this tour to everyone who want to enjoys a great day out and to see the stunning scenery around Bruny Island.
One of the best tours we've ever done Amazing scenery and the guide/driver (Dave) was incredibly knowledgeable. New bus was very comfortable and really liked.that it was only a small tour rather than a full coach. Would definitely recommend. The food was a massive highlight. Everything was fresh and local and honestly you’re well fed all day. Lunch was great and i would definitely recommend to get the lamb shoulder. The oysters, cheese, fudge and other local stops were all spot on.
Big shout-out to our guide Jimmy he is an absolute legend. Super friendly easygoing and clearly knows and loves Bruny Island. He kept the day running smoothly shared heaps of local knowledge and made the whole experience relaxed and fun rather than feeling like a typical tour.
The scenery was stunning the lighthouse was a great stop and we even spotted a white wallaby which was a pretty special bonus.
If you’re heading to Tasmania put this tour high on your list. Great food great guide and a brilliant way to see Bruny Island.
Bruny Island experience A full day with a knowledgeable tour guide. Visiting and learning about the Bruny lighthouse was fantastic. Lunch at the pub was delicious and tasting the chocolate and oysters is a must.
Epic day out. Loved this tour was relaxed, interesting, great stops, food was delicious, lighthouse was spectacular and Nigel was a great driver/guide. Thanks for a great day!
Bruny Island No Go Tour! Very disappointing! Was advertised as a "food " tour but apart for a 10 minutes stop at a honey shop and chocolate shop, morning tea in a public roadstop where the driver provided 3 small squares of cheese on a piece of bread. 3 oysters at 10am in the morning for tea. Don't step in the wallaby poo as you pick up your cheese! The sumptuous seafood platter was at the local pub! Huge trek up to get to the lighthouse the rest of the time driving up and down a dirt road. At $280 per person, do not waste your time or money on this tour!
Don't take the tour. The tour lasted 11 hours. Of all the attractions, the only one worth seeing was the lighthouse. The breakfast is weak, amateurishly prepared. They put out a limited number of breads and cheeses, coffee, and that's it. We spent more time inside the van than actually sightseeing. The chocolate factory is totally disappointing. The tasting is, again, three chocolates cut up and eat. There's no explanation about the production of the products, types of pairing, manufacturing, or anything like that. The same thing at the brewery. There wasn't even a tasting there. If I wanted, I could have bought the beer and drunk it quickly because I had to get back to the van. Lunch is good. The cost-benefit ratio is terrible. The tour isn't worth it. I was in Australia to write a report for a magazine and unfortunately I have to recount this negative experience.
Amazing tour We had a great tour of the lighthouse, the scenery from the top was amazing and the tour was very informative - would definitely recommend if you’re going to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse!
Awesome Day Out Brilliant tour. Great value as it includes stunning Bruny Island produced foods including cheeses, oysters, bread, chocolate and great pub lunch. The guide was very informative, friendly and the tour was well planned. Highly enjoyable.
Excellent tour, highly recommend Highly recommend this excellent tour. Our guide and driver Dave was brilliant, friendly, funny and clearly passionate about his job. He also knows a dad joke or two. We also met Jimmy during the day and he was lovely too. As a solo traveller, going on tours can be a bit nerve wracking, so I was grateful that Dave took the time to include me and make me feel welcome. He even took photos for me as I was on my own. He was so knowledgeable about the island, and took great care when preparing our oysters and cheese for breakfast, maintaining good hygiene and being careful when managing allergies of those in our group.
This tour includes a lighthouse tour that other Bruny Island tours don’t and it was well worth the extra stop for great views and wallaby sightings, which I was very excited by as an international visitor!
Awesome day out! Great day out exploring Bruny Island! Oysters and food were awesome and some great sights at the Neck and the Lighthouse. Our tour guide Jimmy ensured all had a great time - very informative and entertaining! A great day out!
Fantastic Day Out Jimmy was incredible. Really knowledgeable and a very good guide. He was extremely patient and took care to keep to schedule without rushing us too much. It was bucketing with rain when we went and he changed the itinerary to accommodate the weather and his group’s enjoyment.
Worth the $25/adult The walk up into the lighthouse including out onto the upper balcony area was truly spectacular. As we left we strongly encouraged all we walked pass to go inside
Gourmet food tour - I don’t think so!! Unfortunately our guide Nigel was abrupt and quite rough. The speaker system in the bus did not function properly so we heard limited commentary. The visit to the lighthouse was excellent but the rest of the day was only average. It certainly was not a gourmet food tour - morning tea of cheese and oysters was strange and lunch was basic pub food. Other special treats as in honey and chocolate had to be paid for. All in all it was an expensive tour with a bored guide. Thank goodness for the beautiful weather and brilliant Tasmanian scenery.
Cape Bruny lighthouse tour This tour of the lighthouse started at the lighthouse so you do need to have a pass to go into the national park. For the price the tour is excellent value. The views from the top balcony are impressive and you have plenty of time to take photos. The lighthouse is very well preserved and is steeped in history which the guide Belinda brought to life. Make sure you dress warmly and you do need to climb 75 stairsOur driver Dave was a legend - knowledgeable and quick witted, and a great driver - he really made the tour.
Quick ferry ride to the island and then we stopped at various of the artisan shops and had samplings, had an amazing morning tea of local bread, cheese and the plumpest, freshest oysters! Wow! All at a delightful little beach which had been visited by Captain Cook.
We got a chance to climb the Truganini Lookout and marvel at the views of The Neck and then headed to Cape Bruny Lighthouse for a guided tour and a chance to brave the wind and walk around the balcony!
Included lunch was at the Bruny Hotel and was an excellent meal - we had placed individual orders earlier.
More stops on the way back to the ferry and then back to our accommodation.
This was one of the best tours we have ever done and can thoroughly recommend Bruny Island Safari’s and Dave in particular.
Top travel experience to see Bruny Island. We were collected from our hotel in Hobart and the small bus (13 pax) crossed in the Ferry to Bruny Is .Our local guide was Rick and he was very knowledgeable and professional.
For morning tea we stopped at a very pretty estuary/ beach area and had Oysters and Cheese tasting with cup of tea or coffee. The Oysters were the largest I had seen so far in Tasmania, and were absolutely delicious.
Stopped at a Hotel for lunch which was adequate. My partner thought it would have been nice to have some mashed potato with the slow cooked lamb.
Followed by a journey to do Cheese, Chocolate and Honey tasting.
Also stopped at a small local market which was very quaint.
Altgether an 8 + hour tour of Bruny Island, and a wonderful experience with this company. Recommended.
An amazing food-filled fun day exploring beautiful Bruny Island Our guide, Jimmy, was a great ambassador for both Bruny Island Safaris and Bruny Island itself. He took us on a day of delightful gourmet food tasting experiences from fresh oysters and cheeses on a pristine beach, mouth-watering local lamb at the pub, chocolate & fudge treats for dessert, local beer, ciders, honey, a unique experience of views from the top of one of Australia’s oldest lighthouses and simultaneous views of both the Tasman Ocean and D’Entrecasteaux Channel from the top of a sand dune. His extensive knowledge and story telling brought Bruny alive for us. Highly recommend this tour.
An Incredible Hobart Experience — Amazing Views and Even Better Oysters! ⸻My wife and I went on this tour and were pleasantly surprised! It was a long day, but every moment was worth it — from the delicious food (the oysters were absolutely amazing!) and fascinating historical insights shared by our guide, Dave, to the stunning scenery and his great sense of humor. The views from above were breathtaking. We’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hobart!
Awesome Day Trip What a fantastic way to see beautiful Bruny Island and be fed, watered and guided at the same time! Our driver Dave was a legend - knowledgeable and quick witted, and a great driver - he really made the tour.
Quick ferry ride to the island and then we stopped at various of the artisan shops and had samplings, had an amazing morning tea of local bread, cheese and the plumpest, freshest oysters! Wow! All at a delightful little beach which had been visited by Captain Cook.

More stops on the way back to the ferry and then back to our accommodation.
This was one of the best tours we have ever done and can thoroughly recommend Bruny Island Safari’s and Dave in particular.
Top Experience Bruny Lighthouse Tour was great. Matt took us right to the top and told us all about the lighthouse’s history. At the top the views were amazing. Would highly recommend.
Great day on Bruny Island Had an amazing day tour with Bruny Island Safaris, tour guide, Jimmy, was great! Full of knowledge and clearly loves what he does. Very fortunate to see a few white wallabies, tastings were delicious and learnt so much. Would definitely recommend
Bruny Island experience Third time in Tassie but first time to Bruny. It was a great day, everything ran smoothly and our tour guide Marina was amazing. Highly recommend doing this guided tour.
Honey and chocolate Interesting to see Bruny Island, which is quite big. The tour was really a trip around various tourist shops to buy produce.
Great tour. We certainly never felt hungry! Rick was very knowledgeable and well organised. We had a terrific day. The Bruny Island cheeses were a hit as was the honey and fudge.
Beautiful experience The guide was great and friendly. The view from the light house was really beautiful and not that walking then I expected.
Overall I enjoyed the tour and satisfied with everything.
But the price was bit too expensive.
Awesome experience This is the best experience for Bruny Island day tour. Jimmy is professional and super friendly! Not solely because of how the good weather is but Jimmy truly highlights the whole tour! All information at scenic spot in detail and really helpful to travel at Bruny! It is recommended to all who consider one day tour at Bruny.
A great tour! Thanks Bruny Island Safaris. Great tour guide (Rick, you're the best), great fresh local produce, and great views. We loved spotting a white wallaby and those oysters! Yum. Shout out to Belinda also for an amazing lighthouse tour. We definitely recommend this company for a Bruny Island experience.
Amazing experience Andy was an exceptional tour guide, demonstrating remarkable knowledge, a delightful sense of humour, and an infectious energy. We extend our sincere gratitude for his invaluable contributions. The tour was meticulously planned and provided an enjoyable experience. The assortment of cheeses, bread, and Pacific oysters complemented the serene yet orderly ambiance.
We highly recommend Bruny Island Safaris and we extend our appreciation for their hospitality.
Great place, friendly people would go back and stay a little longer. Highly recommend. Great tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly loved the whole Bruny Island Safari experience. Would recommend it to anyone. Loved all the food treats along the way :)Lunch at the pub was great also, I ordered the chicken parmi which was lovely.
The portion size was a little bit small, it appeared to be cut in half.
A little bit disappointing as when I walked in I noticed someone else also having the chicken parmi and it was HUGE!!
That was the only thing, however I am a guts LOL!!
Overpriced Lighthouse is positioned in a beautiful roughed coastline with great views. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and was great to see the second oldest lighthouse in Australia.Unfortunately l think the price is too much compared to other lighthouse tours we have been on and we had a discount through bookme.
6 old farts old mates from and one younger Amanda Rick gave us a tremendous day on the Island all the visits were worth the stop especially the stop on the beach for oysters and cheese what a treat
An Enjoyable Day!!! This tour is very well organised and whilst it’s a long day everything is at a good pace .Our tour guide, Phil was very knowledgeable and informative. and made this a memorable experience . The scenic views around Bruny Island were absolutely breathtaking . The lighthouse tour was amazing and our guide Shane was very knowledgeable and passionate. The view on the top was breathtaking. We were also able to sample some local produce - Cheeses , Oysters and Chocolate. This day tour is a must do it really captures what Bruny island has to offer.
Great tour and guide Toured on a Saturday (highly recommend over staying back for the Salamanca markets) and it was a fabulous day out - a perfect mix of a few walks to see the beautiful landscapes of Bruny and lots of foodie experiences. Jimmy was generous with his knowledge and recommendations and it was a pleasure being in his company for the day.Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable but most of the group thought he was a rally car driver. He drove insanely fast on dirt roads which was a little scary. Just confirmed to all of us too rushed.
The lighthouse tour was fantastic ! If you’re scared of heights be warned but I’d still recommend it (I’m no good with heights but i don’t regret doing it!!)
Too rushed / typical bus tour : when we got on the bus we were warned today is going to be pushed to see it all ….. our first stop was at the ferry to Bruny island. Now despite being told it’s going to be rushed he purposely stopped the bus for us to grab coffee despite a ferry ready to board…..why!?!? … clearly kick backs are in place from the coffee shop. A waste of 30min!!!!
The it was off to get shucked …. Well that’s what we thought but instead it was a drive by with the driver quickly jumping out to get a few oysters to go / eat later. This was really disappointing as we had hoped to stop and grab some cooked oysters - NOPE!
Next honey stop for a v quick tasting. I’m not a big honey guy but my wife loved it !
Then off to Truganini lookout . Well worth a stop. The views are amazing!!!
Next stop, was at two tree point for cheese, bread and sample of oysters . The oysters were great as was the views!!!!!! Such a pretty spot to stop at.
Next was a rally car trip to the lighthouse !!!! Damn.
The lighthouse tour is a must . It was soo good . Incredible history and views.
Off to lunch and again the rally car driver was at his best …… hotel Bruny had some awesome local beers on tap!!! Food was ok. Can’t complain but nothing to write home about.
After lunch was more driving and a visit to chocolate shop - very touristy. Wouldn’t bother if going by myself.
Last stop was cheese and beer shop. Very friendly service and good beer. Worth a stop.
Back to ferry and home .
Was it worth $520 for two …… hmmmmmm …. Yes and no. Just depends on you. If you want a guide, wanna have a few beers and not worry about driving then yes. If you are happy to drive (we didn’t have a car that day) then do it yourself and you can pick and choose where you wanna go.
Good food and views Loved the food, especialy cheese and bread. Tour guide was nice, very informative with good humor, easy to understand for non-native english speakers.
Wonderful views of the island. Enjoyed the lighthouse tour.
