On this Kokomo cruise, you will admire majestic humpback whales on their annual migration through the ‘Whale Highway’, an ancient underwater corridor just 20-minutes away from the marina. Seeing whales up close, in their natural habitat, is truly a sight to behold.
Gasp at their spectacular displays, see mothers tending to their calves, and experience the humbling feeling of seeing these gentle giants up close as they curiously approach our vessel. Plus, encounter lots of other wildlife, including sea turtles, dolphins, fish and sea birds. Make sure you have your camera at the ready!
With only a limited number of seats on board, we ensure you enjoy an intimate experience and create lifelong memories without the crowds. This cruise is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about these amazing animals and the important role they play in our ecosystem.

An absolute ️️️️️ experience.
A great collaboration between Kokomo Cruises and Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
The team from Kokomo provide a lovely cruising experience, whilst the guide (Heidi was our wonderful guide) from the cultural centre creates such a beautiful and respectful cultural exchange that expands your knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history and experience.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Gold Coast.
At first, I was a bit worried about getting seasick since the boat was quite small, but I’m so glad I decided to go with this tour. Because the boat was small, it felt very private and cozy. I could walk around freely to watch the whales from any side — no crowds, no one blocking the view.
When the whales appeared and started swimming from one side to another, everyone on board could easily see them up close. It was such a wonderful and worthwhile experience!
Within no time we were out on the water and surrounded by whales – breaching, tail slapping, and even coming right up close to the boat. It was such a magical experience, and the crew’s knowledge and commentary made it even more special. You could tell they genuinely care about the whales and about giving everyone on board the best possible time.
The whole trip was run with so much professionalism, passion, and respect for the ocean.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable whale watching experience on the Gold Coast, I couldn’t recommend Kokomo Cruises highly enough. Absolutely five stars – a must-do!
several other groups of whales including a mother and calf, and a sea-snake, hammerhead shark, turtles and a seahorse. Ideal weather conditions: 8:30am trip.
Brand new custom built boat and extremely informative- really good job thank you
The experience was truly magical Rain or Shine & they created memories for me and my visiting family that will last forever.
When you’re stopped looking at this beautiful animals, you’ll notice a few extra boats will join to look, Kokomo always seem to keep it a “private experience” finding new pods of whales where there’s no one else - just adds a little bit more sparkle.
The knowledge known by nick is truly fantastic & me and the whole family learnt a lot… actually been testing eachothers whale knowledge.
Also. Yes!! Guilty nearly the whole family got sea sick but we were taken care off to the best of their ability & made we still were able to enjoy the experience.
I couldn’t believe how many pods of whales we saw!
6/7 breaches
Even a spy hop!
Female splashing her pectoral fin for ages too!
Stop it I could go on! It was fantastic!
Thank you for making memories that will last a lifetime!
The highlight of the day was definitely the whales – we got to see them up close in such a breathtaking way. The team also shared interesting facts and showed great respect for the marine life, which made the experience even more special.
I highly recommend Kokomo Cruises to anyone looking for a high-quality whale watching tour on the Gold Coast. Truly unforgettable!
Highly recommend. Great powerful boat
We got to see 2 whales and followed them for about an hour, super close.
Highly recommend Kokomo Cruises :)
Amazing up close and personal with loads of whales 👍. A big thumbs up and will definitely go again.
The whales were the stars and we spotted loads and got up close and personal. Amazing trip and definitely value for money. A big thumbs up 👍
Kokomo cruises did their very best to give us a wonderful experience. It was so majestic to see the beautiful humpback whales. We were lucky enough to see a mum and baby whale travelling together. Very knowledgeable crew members, shared a lot of information while we waited for the whales to come up.
I really wanted to see the whales doing a breach jump. Hopefully next time.
Highly recommended!!!
The boat was perfect - we looked at the other crowded ones inc Seaworld and were so glad we when this way. Respectful of whales and knowledgeable skipper and assistant. Lovely energy and perfect experience. Even gave my daughter bag for her nausea and helped us with sunscreen we forgot. I don’t write these often but on this occasion - can’t recommend enough!
From start to finish, myself and Hubby thoroughly enjoyed our day. We were advised that the front of the boat could be bumpier with a chance of splashing. It was and it did 😄. This only added to the trip for us.
We were out and coasting when the whales graced us with their presence. Well, we couldn't have asked for more. The whale breached and jumped. It used its tail and fin to slap the water. We had definately found a playful dude and our crew stayed around and followed this wonderful animal for a significant amount of time to get the best photo ops..
They were incredibly knowledgeable. Even managing to track a mum and calf on our journey back.
The boat was safe and comfortable.
I would not hesitate in recommending this amazing trip and would give it more stars if I could.
The BEST day was had.
Perfect combination of small group size, informative commentary, and respect shown towards the whales; which is most important. We didn't follow any one/pod for too long, and when it was clear they weren't interested in us (diving deep whenever we came near) we moved on.
Booking, boarding and parking went smoothly too.
Really great to see and so important in eco-tourism. Keep up the great work guys 🙏🏼💙🐳
Great experience awesome crew.
Went to see whales and did only 3kms off Surfers Paradise. Best $$$ spent in a long time
The only improvement I can suggest is the option to have some food on board but we were well cared for.
Much appreciated
However, the main purpose of the cruise, the whale watching, left much to be desired. We did spot a whale, but it was at quite a distance, and we couldn't get a close-up view. This was disappointing as we were hoping for a more immersive experience.
Despite this, I'm not giving up on whale watching altogether. I plan to try again at the Sunshine Coast in hopes of a more rewarding encounter with these majestic creatures. Overall, while the cruise had its positives, the limited whale sightings left room for improvement.
But we saw lots of whales! It was incredible, and I couldn't fault the guys working the boat.
Thank you for a fantastic time. This is another bucket list tick!
spoke to the office about 11:45 to be told it was cancelled due to bad ocean conditions. May have been true or maybe not enough people had booked. Which was what it looked like. Whoever was supposed to inform us at the marina was either cowardly or blind. Not at all impressed! Two hours driving wasted and an upsetting experience. Hopefully we will get a full refund.
Brand new yaht, weather was also very nice.
Everyone on board agreed it was an amazing afternoon, we had never seen whales so close before. It was all topped with a beautiful sunset on the way back.
