Spend the day soaking up the serenity, including meeting the iconic kangaroos at Lucky Bay, having a swim, and taking an inspiring coastal walk. Awaiting you will be a gourmet barbecue feast of local produce which you will enjoy with breathtaking views over Little Hellfire Bay. Feeling inspired, by 6 pm, you’ll be settling into your luxurious 5-star villa at the Esperance Chalet Village, an idyllic hideaway nestled among nature. Dinner this evening will be at Esperance’s premier restaurant overlooking the ocean, the Taylor St Quarters.
Today you travel approximately 150km.
Day 2: Esperance to Albany
Enjoy breakfast amongst native wildlife at your accommodation before departing Esperance. Take the jaw-droppingly beautiful Great Ocean Drive, a 40-kilometre loop of pristine beaches, rocky headlands, small bays, and hidden ocean pools. Onwards to Fitzgerald River National Park, which from August to November boasts the most extensive array of wildflowers in the world.
Traverse through East Mt Barren for amazing views and be rewarded with a gourmet picnic lunch. Head off-road for a four-wheel-drive adventure along Hamersley Inlet Road as we continue towards Albany, arriving late afternoon. Enjoy fine dining with ocean views at renowned local restaurant Garrison.
Day 2 – Alternative Itinerary (Pink Lake Scenic Flight)
If you would like to do the optional extra scenic flight over the world-famous Pink Lake, your day would change slightly. After breakfast, board the flight, which offers incredible views over Frenchman’s Peak, Cape Le Grand, the Recherche Archipelago, and the world-renowned Pink Lake Hillier, where the vivid pink lake is framed by turquoise ocean. Following the flight, enjoy a delicious lunch in Esperance before heading towards Albany via the picturesque Stirling Ranges.

Day 3: Albany to Denmark
Today is packed with culinary delights, and the first is the Beach House’s iconic ‘Bountiful Breakfast’. Then, feeling satisfied, it’s time to continue our expedition through the Great Southern, stopping at breathtaking coastal rock formations The Gap and Natural Bridge. Both are primed for swimming in the warmer months. Head into the old-growth forests in the Walpole Wilderness region and traverse the Valley of the Giants. Walk 40 metres high into the canopy of Western Australia’s majestic tingle trees, found nowhere else on Earth.
Arriving into the Margaret River region, your unique culinary lunch experience today is at the Truffle Hill, Western Australia’s first truffière and largest producer of superior black Perigord truffles in the world. Following breakfast, see the beautiful Margaret River mouth and the world-famous surf break at Surfers Point, then wander through the vibrant township of Margaret River, home to an eclectic mix of boutique stores and galleries. Being Saturday, the Margaret River Farmers Markets are on. Awarded the most outstanding farmers’ market in Australia in 2018, wandering around them allows you to get amongst the locals and taste an array of delicious local produce straight from the farmers themselves.
No visit to this world-class wine region would be complete without visiting its founding estate, Vasse Felix. Relax in the picturesque settings of this critically acclaimed restaurant and enjoy a tantalising five-course tasting menu with accompanying wines. Spend the rest of the afternoon tasting your way around the Margaret River region, which we will tailor to your liking. Options include cellar door visits to Bettenays for nougat tasting, Gabriel’s Chocolate factory, the Grove Distillery and Wills Domain. For the perfect end of the day, we’ll take a short drive to iconic Meelup Beach. The last stop on tour is Origin Markets, where you will taste a plethora of produce from the local growers and perhaps pick up some locally crafted gifts or souvenirs.

Our guide, Hannah, was fantastic; she shared her passion and knowledge with us.
The places are magnificent, and sleeping in swag is something unique.
Highly recommended!
We went to nice places, such as stokes Bay and emu Bay. Camping was fun and the equipment was clean.
I would reccomend to a friend
Brilliant company, loads of laughs, stunning views and wildlife!
Not forgetting Steve the tour guide who made everything so enjoyable 👌
One of the absolute highlights was spending the night in a swag, surrounded by wallabies and sleeping under a breathtaking star-filled sky. Falling asleep to the sounds of nature and waking up in the middle of untouched wilderness was a truly unique and grounding experience – something you simply don’t get on a standard tour.
A special thanks to Steve for his outstanding knowledge and for taking us to so many incredible places that truly showcased the diversity and beauty of Kangaroo Island.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience Kangaroo Island properly.
It was thoughtfully planned out fitting so much in to our 3 days
From herritage information to breathtaking views it was just a great experience for us both.
Highly recommend to anyone willing to see, feel and taste first hand what our country has to offer on the south coast Chris did a fantastic job thankyou.
Eli was a reliable, calm and knowledgeable guide and driver. He and assistant Bella were kind, competent, cheerful under all circumstances (days of rain, a problem with the bus door, tardy travellers). Typically we were on the road about 6 a.m. We covered such long distances on some days - I would never drive that far myself, and it was brilliant to visit places along the way.
A few of the many highlights: Whistling Caves near Streaky Bay sounded like an ogre roaring through the rock fissures; Cape le Grand National Park - a sea eagle over the headland and amazing lighting effects as the sun peeked through the rain-clouds over the turquoise sea; a family of emus in the sweet bushland of the southern Flinders Ranges; the granite peaks of Castle Rock in Porongorup National Park; a morning of learning how to propagate native cuttings for regeneration; meeting Josh Whiteland, Noongar cultural custodian, at Yalingup Caves, and hearing the music of his didgeridoo down in the heart of the caves.
I was glad to have brought my own hike tent, as there were several rainy nights. It would have been good to have a map of our itinerary.
A trip worth doing, and very good value for the price.
Where to start with all the many amazing things I saw during this tour? On several clear nights there were so many stars to see from the warmth of the swag without having to move more than my head. And the swag was very comfortable to sleep in - I was kinda dreading that part, completely unnecessary as it turned out. There were the camels that turned up for the sunrise at Kata Tjuta. The wild horses along the road. The countless kangaroos and emus we saw in the Flinders Ranges. The small snake at the Garden of Eden, during the King's Canyon Rim Walk which was a great hike all on its own. The vastness of the country we travelled through, when it seemed the flat plains would go on forever.
Eli was a fantastic guide. He was enthusiastic, friendly and very easy to talk to. Also very knowledgeable about the aboriginal cultures of the regions we travelled through. He pointed out so many animals and plants, with stories about their historic background as well as giving us a lot of current information. And he knew the best spots for watching sunsets as well as wild animals.
It was seriously the best group tour I ever took part in. The perfect mix of hikes, sightseeing and relaxing while being surrounded by stunning landscapes
Elliot our guide was knowledgeable, fun and worked tirelessly to get the best experience for all of us with a challenging agenda, thanks Elliot!!
Highly recommend this trip 👌
We had the opportunity to see what the real Australian outback looks like – wild nature, vast spaces and an atmosphere that cannot be compared to any other place.
I was very impressed by our guide. Elliott had incredible knowledge about the nature, history and culture of this place, and he was able to convey it in an interesting and accessible way. Thanks to him, we learned a lot of interesting facts, and the whole trip was not only an adventure but also a lesson. Importantly, he took care of every detail and made sure that everyone felt comfortable.
I did this as a solo traveller and it was perfect for meeting people, with a wide range of ages in the group. Highly recommend this tour!
Our lovely group enjoyed a full week of adventures and experiences well beyond what we expected. Elliott took care of everything, for 16 hours a day every day! Every extra request - from picking up souvenirs for people to extending certain parts of the trip was taken care of for us. We had the best spots for each sightseeing opportunity and got to see the best of every experience free from the usual crowds.
Thanks, Elliott, for giving us all the trip of a lifetime. I would do the tour, or any other tour, again in a heartbeat!
Every day brought new, breathtaking scenery and the experience was made so much more interesting by the very informative stories that Elliott had researched and shared on a range of subjects from Aboriginal culture, to colonial history, wildlife, geology and plants.
Our group included people ranging from 9 to their seventies and everyone was very well looked after and catered for. It all worked well because the entire group participated in camp set-up, cooking and pack down. The food was excellent and plentiful too.
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see iconic outback sights, and experience bush adventure off the beaten track, with a great balance of driving, bush walking and culture.
We got blessed with Eli as our tour guide. He was doing such a great job by managing several different jobs: driver, tour guide, chef. He knew all our names after the first day, made sure from the beginning that everyone felt comfortable. His inspiration and knowledge about the indigenous people is remarkable and that all at his age. He found the right balance between staying within the schedule, but also be spontaneous and relaxed.
I cannot thank him enough to make this tour unforgettable.
The trip was chock-a-block full of sunsets, sunrises, hikes, wildlife, swag sleeping under the stars & campfire’s with story telling and cracking laughter.
8 amazing days of stunning scenery & building a closer connection to both country & our tour family.
It’s an impossible task to name a singular highlight, but the deeply spiritual indigenous cultural tour with John in the Flinders Rangers will stay with us forever. Thank you Hannah & Untamed for an unforgettable experience… it far exceeded our expectations!
It fulfilled many dreams of a lifetime.
My wife and I had a really fun time.
Some improvements I would make:
1/ even though there was wine tasting advertised in the itinerary introduction there was no wine tasting. Several of us were waiting for it to happen when we were told it was time to leave. We wanted to buy wine so we and the locals lost out. We would have paid for tasting ourselves if we knew it was not included.
2. I would suggest having some tents available for couples or for those who find swags a little claustrophobic. I enjoyed the swag on the second night that was good weather but the first night was wet and I didn't like it.
3. The bus ride from Adelaide to Port Jervis and back was extremely uncomfortable for me. I don't usually get motion sickness but both times I was feeling queasy. Maybe the bus driver needs to drive to the conditions. Speed limit is a maximum not a literal instruction
4. The facilities at camp happiness are pretty filthy. Cobwebs, spiders and dust everywhere. The toilets smelt really bad.
the van that we rode in on KI was very dirty too until my wife cleaned it.
We travelled a bit over 4200 km, filled with adventure and camaraderie. We tackled together beautiful hikes, slept in swags (and some of us for a few nights decided to have the luxury in tents) which added a unique touch to the experience.
The diversity of Australia truly is something special. I was thinking the long drive through Nullarbor would be boring, but happen to discover a stunning beauty of the coast - The Great Australian Bight - with its dramatic cliffs and gorgeous ocean with the whales and when you think, further down, opposite them is Antarctica
Cape Le Grand NP - another place that I really enjoyed very much. The beaches are stunning. The whitest and finest sand in the world is in Lucky Bay where we were really "lucky" to spend 2 days. The water is crystal clear and dipping your legs in the freezing water after a long hike was so refreshing.. oh, those those little moments were the best!
In general, this trip was intense, a bit physically demanding, but the more time passes, the more we appreciate and like the experience.
This tour is solo-friendly as you are travelling with like-minded folk and Jack, our guide, was a natural at making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Our group was well looked after by him whether that be in the variety of food and meals, the time taken to answer our questions and the numerous toilet stops! Jack has the right combination of fun and attentiveness. He has an engaging way of sharing his knowledge of Aboriginal culture and stories which set the scene for our walks beautifully.
This tour delivers a bucket list of memories at a comfortable and chilled pace. I had the best time and would highly recommend this tour.
Jack has a great respect for Aboriginal culture and stories, a respect for the land, a knowledge of geology and gives 110% to make sure his guests experience the magic and rawness of the Aussie outback and country in all its glory.
Great tour coordinator/chef/driver. Haven't eaten so well in years. Great guy.
I was 50 and made to feel welcome amongst people of all ages.
Bring a spare batteries for your camera.
