A Unique, Up-Close Wildlife Experience We thoroughly enjoyed the Nocturnal Wildlife Tour from Busselton! It was such an interesting experience to get so close and personally interact with the nocturnal animals. Mick and Ryan are fantastic, highly knowledgeable guides who shared great insights throughout the evening. It's a wonderful, unique tour that we highly recommend!

An amazing few hours that went very quickly… The only thing that outshone Mick’s knowledge was the attendance of the wildlife. An absolutely amazing few hours. The door to door service is an excellent idea & very helpful. Thank you.

An awesome evening of flora and fauna We met with Mick and were the only people on the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable and chatty and pointed out many interesting plants including ones used by indigenous people for bush tucker, medicinal and other purposes. We saw and patted adorable kangaroos and watched possums and bandicoots. He showed us some constellations and other interesting things, I won’t give away all the surprises! Mick knows so much about the area and makes an excellent cuppa. This was my favourite tour on our trip and I’ve seen some amazing stuff.

Go do it. Ryan picked us up from our accommodation and drove us to the property where the tour operates. Absolutely amazing tour. Saw and fed kangaroos, quendas and possums. We were treated to bush tea and a ride home was included. So much fun. I recommend dressing for the weather and bushwalking.

A Tour worth taking! We were arriving in the area by cruise ship and booked our 4 hour tour directly only the day before. Despite there being only 4 of us (2 couples) we had the full size van to ourselves. The vehicle is well cared for and very comfortable.
Our guide, Ryan, met us at the port and dropped us back there afterwards.
Our tour included a platter of local nibbles and drinks too at about the midway point. Very nice touch and all the local cheeses, honey, and nibbles were delicious!
As for the guided tour, it was awesome.
We have travelled the world over and have had many tour guides along our adventures, Ryan was honestly the most informative, interesting, thoughtful, and add to that he has a great sense of humour!
Along the drive to our first hike, Ryan provided us with a great narrative of the local area and people. Our short hike through the bush let us see many interesting sights and learn how historically the aborigines used the different plants for medicinal purposes and making fire.
Our second hike was longer, the Cape to Cape trek provided us with amazing vistas and photo-ops of the beautiful sand beaches. It was midday so we didn’t see much in the way of reptiles, but the variety of birds were plentiful.
We stopped at several view points along the coast for pics before heading to the “Kangaroo Safari” portion of the trip.
Ryan took us to a local golf course that has essentially been taken over by the bouncing wonders. Tee to green, the kangaroos ruled the fairways!
We were able to get out and take some great shots of a wild mob grazing in the local schoolyard, a sight we don’t see everyday back in Canada.
Along the drive back to the port, Ryan shared a video relating to the eco efforts being taken to preserve the great outdoors and oceans.

One must do in Busselton! The best thing you can do in WA (probably in Australia)! This has been hands down the best tour/activity we have ever done on holidays! Our guide, Ryan, was so knowledgeable, friendly and fun! We got to see so much of the South-West from the pristine coastline, to the amazing wildlife, all the while being informed by a guide with SO MUCH local knowledge!!

The local produce that we got to taste was amazing and should not be missed!

Seriously, if you have a short stay in Busselton (eg. Tour ship stop, quick weekend WA visit), this should be the only activity you book! Well worth it and true value for money!

Brilliant evening This was a fantastic experience. It was only myself and my two daughters this evening. Ryan knows his stuff and the kids had an absolute blast. It was so lovely to feed the kangaroos and get up (respectfully) close with a couple of possums. Saw loads of frogs and spiders, quendas and heard all the tales of the roos who came up. Highly recommend. My daughter wants to give it a million stars

Definitely do it! Can’t recommend this more! The nocturnal animal tour was “20 times better than expected” according to another family on our tour (which we agreed with). The animals like kangaroos, bandicoots and possums came so close. We had an impromptu star gazing tour as well. Mick and Ryan are knowledgeable, fun, and responsive to the kids’ many questions. They serve hot chocolate and cookies, too. Definitely do it.

I highly recommend the South West Eco Discoveries Tours with Ryan and Mick, two brothers who are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. They truly opened my eyes to the history of Australia, especially Western Australia. I learned so much about native plants, their incredible benefits, and how they were (and still are) essential for Indigenous people surviving in arid and challenging environments. They also explained how Western Australia was shaped over time, including during the last Ice Age, 2 million years ago. A truly magical night under the stars Had the most amazing evening with Ryan on the nocturnal wildlife tour. Ryan collected us from our accommodation and transported us to Yelverton Brook Conservation Park.
We started with a brief walk to a small clearing in the forest. Along the way Ryan described some of the trees and bushes. Upon arriving at the clearing this is where the real magic began. There are no guarantees as to which animals will come and see you here but we were really very lucky with Bandicoots and around a dozen Kangaroos joining us - it was amazing!

We then carried on deeper into the forest were we looked at other vegetation and hunted for various spiders. Ryan was also able to point of many star constellations as we walked too.

It was a truly wonderful night and is something neither myself or my wife will ever forget.

A lovely & knowledgeable tour… Mick our guide was a local whose passion for the animals and environment of WA was endless. His knowledge of the history and development of this part of Australia was really impressive. The local produce was a real treat. I would highly recommend this tour

Best tours ever Best tours ever! I did the nocturnal and day time one and they were both amazing. We learned a lot and enjoyed smelling leafs and gazing at stars. 100% would recommend!

A unique, fun for the whole family experience! Wow! What an experience! Our entire family had an amazing time interacting with several nocturnal species, learning about the native vegetation, and spectacular star gazing . The guides, Mic and Ryan, are engaging, informative, and passionate. The tour concludes with a 30-minute walk through the bush. The terrain is flat and not physically challenging; however, for young children, they might tire. So keep this in mind when planning: consider a backpack carrier for toddlers and an afternoon rest for the kiddos who don’t love a long walk. We would book this tour again and again! A fabulous afternoon trip A fabulous afternoon seeing the local beaches, visiting two vineyards, sampling wines, visiting a local company producing gifts with olive oil and picking up local bread. Great evening for the family with experienced guides We did the Nocturnal Wildlife Tour with our two kids between 7 and 10. Had a great time and saw much more wildlife than we expected. Ryan and Mick were both very knowledgeable, interesting and we're great with the kids. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Highly recommend!! The nocturnal tour was amazing, we got so see many kangaroos and one joey, a few possums, quendas and other cool things along the way. Handfeeding and being able to pet a them along the way was great. Ryan and Mick were fantastic hosts too. Would definitely recommend!!

What a wonderful day! Mick and Ryan are brothers (see photo) and co-owners of South West Eco Discoveries. As it turned out, my wife and I were the only folks who had booked them for the day, so we had a private tour of the Margaret River region. They were both so knowledgeable about the ecology and economy of the region, and it was clear that they loved sharing the place they loved with us. It was truly a wonderful day to remember.

Ryan is a brilliant guide. Ryan is a brilliant guide - personable and knowledgeable. A local boy, he knows all the most interesting locations. We saw dolphins, got up close with kangaroos, learned traditional usage of various flora and - not usually my favourite subject - we got a practical and fascinating understanding of local geology. A selection of snacks from local produce completed an excellent four hours together.

An afternoon of sights and visits from Busselton through Dunsborough with an entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide Afternoon tour from Busselton to see some sights around Dunsborough and Geographe bay for a small group of 3. Included two winery stops and a soap factory visit. The wine testing was well done with knowledgeable hosts. Soap factory was also educational. Well done to Mike our expert guide and his excellent family business.

Best thing to do in Western Australia This was the coolest thing we did in Western Australia. Ryan is one awesome dude. Seeing the animals was a very special experience for family.

A Journey into WA’s Bushland with Mic and Ryan We would like to show our appreciation to Mic and Ryan for taking us on a beautiful journey into the bushland and sharing their wealth of knowledge about this gorgeous piece of land. We were blessed to meet the adorable animals that came by to greet us that night. Ending the night under the star studded stars was just the cherry on top of the cake. Mic and Rick’s patience in listening to our child’s queries and teaching us about the flora and fauna of this land really enriched our understanding of WA’s naturescape.

We hope to be back again in another season. Stay well and till we meet again!

We went on a customized tour with them to Cape Naturalise and Lake Cave, and the nocturnal animals tour. We have a great time with them on both tours. Ryan and Mick were very friendly and enthusiastic. They were also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in the area. We got to see many interesting native plants, and flowers, including beautiful orchids. With their help, we managed to spot many birds, and land and sea mammals. The two tours experiences are easily amongst the best that we have had. And we really enjoyed the provided biscuits too!

Experience like no others 👍 Both Ryan and Mick were very friendly and knowledgeable. They shared informative explanations as we journeyed through the tour. We were lucky enough to spot unique creatures.

The stargazing experience was incredible too.

Exceptional and so knowledgeable Thi was a truly exceptional tour. Ryan is a very knowledgeable horticulturist and a true eco-tourism expert. He goes to great lengths to explain the local flora and fauna and to show visitors the local nature attractions. He also does a great morning tea. An excellent experience!

Best night of the kids lives This tour was the highlight of our trip down south. My three children engaged with the tour guides and information. And the guides were fantastic with dealing with not only two neurodiverse kids, but with a toddler as well.
I cannot recommend this tour for families highly enough!

Excellent tour Fabulous tour with Mick and Ryan, very personal as we were the only participants. Some excellent bird watching and short bush walks, last stop was a local golf course to be up close to kangaroos with tasting plate of local produce, coffee and biscuits baked by Mick’s wife. All excellent. Both Mick and Ryan grew up in the area and have expert and extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna.

Tour guides, Ryan and Mick, completely exceeded our expectations on the nocturnal night tour. Great Tour Company Proud of Western Australia South West Eco Discoveries is one of the finest companies I have ever employed. I knew I was going to enjoy my tour when I booked it because it seemed like a well thought out tour and the booking process was excellent and a little personal. Then, during my trip I broke my hip! I could get into a car and stand and walk a few steps using a frame walker but that was about all. I thought that would be the end of my sight seeing. We were in Australia from Canada early enough in the Spring that it happened that their tours were not fully subscribed so my Sweetie went on the morning tour with a few other people and did one tour. Then South West Eco Discoveries sent a smaller vehicle to pick up me and my Sweetie in the afternoon and the driver/guide took us to places that I could either see just from the car or just required getting out and walking to an observation post.

They did this because they are so proud of their part of Australia and wanted to make sure that I saw enough to be impressed by this beautiful, historic part of the world. You bet I'm impressed! Thank you so much.

We visited on Friday evening with children aged 3-11 and parents and grandparents. It was delightful! Ryan and Mick could not have been more warm, informative and accommodating to the different generations. We went on a bush walk and they found so many interesting nocturnal reptiles, plants and animals and kept the children (and adults) charmed. The kangaroos and possums were stars of the show but we adored the little bandicoot who came to visit too. Very special and highly recommended.

A spectacular nocturnal safari in a private sanctuary.
Ryan and Mick were entertaining and knowledgeable. The wildlife was fab. Up close and personal with 10 kangaroos - including a mother and baby - and possums so close we could strike them. Other creatures like the bandicoots and spiders became much more interesting when we heard about their lifestyles.

Strongly recommend. Easy walking - I did it in flip flops (thongs).

Great mix of sightseeing and wine tasting. Knowledgeable guides. We were glad we picked this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the sightseeing, including seeing dolphins and kangaroos. Two wineries only, which was the perfect amount - any more would have been uncomfortable. We liked the contrast between the small family-run winery and the larger more commercial one. Friendly and knowledgeable guides.

Wonderful family nature experience Ryan and Mick were extremely knowledgeable, kind and welcoming. They provided a unique family experience which has created a wonderful family memory. Educational, fun and engaging, I highly recommend the nocturnal tour.

I highly recommend the Nocturnal experience. We got to feed and meet the kangaroos even patting them. It’s good to know that 25% of the price that we pay for adult tickets goes to maintaining the fence and caring for orphaned animals like the kangaroos. It was wonderful gazing at the stars and learning about the constellations. The tour guides for South West Eco Discoveries were friendly and calm. We will be coming back!

Swan View Senior High School Follow the Dream students were amazed at the wildlife and getting so close to feed some. Follow the Dream student review : Seeing the night sky and planets was a highlight. All the Australian creatures with all their little personalities. It was great to have home made biscuits and tea and feeding the wild animals with your bare hands. Learning about different types of spiders and Coonaks was also a highlight

Had an amazing tour! Can't recommend it enough. I had an amazing trip with Ryan and Mick. They were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They knew the local plants and animals as well as some of the age-old stories about the area. We stopped at about a half dozen spots to explore. I can't recommend these two brothers enough. It was truly a trip of a lifetime for me.

South West Eco Discoveries Nocturnal Wildlife Encounter What a great experience. I cannot recommend this highly enough. We saw kangaroos, possums and learnt lots of interesting bush information.
