In the 1930s, Perth’s wealthiest families would drive an hour north of the city, enter Yanchep National Park, and descend into a limestone cave for an evening of dinner and dancing that nobody discussed in daylight hours.
Nearly a century later, we use this same cave for yoga. And it works extraordinarily well, for reasons that have everything to do with what the place does to you and almost nothing to do with the poses.
Zen in the Cave is a 2.5-hour experience that begins with a 3.5-kilometre guided hike through Yanchep National Park on Whadjuk and Yued Country. The route takes you through the Jarrah and Tuart woodlands of Boomerang Gorge, past Loch McNess, and along the Koala Boardwalk, where a resident colony demonstrates, with their entire bodies, that rest is a legitimate life strategy.
After a cold-pressed juice at the transition point, you descend into Cabaret Cave for a 45-minute beginner-friendly yoga and meditation session in one of the most acoustically extraordinary places in Western Australia.
The sequencing matters. The hike is the mechanism that makes the cave session land in a way that no studio class can replicate. By the time you step underground, your nervous system has already been unwound by an hour of walking through the bush. The teacher says “let go” and your body actually can, because the place has already done the work.
Cabaret Cave is not open to the general public. This experience is one of the very few ways to get inside, which is worth knowing, because exclusivity was the entire founding principle of this place, and some traditions are worth honouring.
No yoga experience required. If you can lie on the ground and breathe, you have all the prerequisites sorted.
Bring your team underground
We run Zen in the Cave as a private experience for corporate groups, teams, and private gatherings. If your people spend their days in fluorescent-lit offices and back-to-back video calls, consider what happens when you walk them through the bush for an hour and then put them in a limestone cave. Nobody has ever come back from a conference room feeling restored. Plenty of people have come back from this experience wondering why they don’t do it more often.

An amazing arvo It was such a magical afternoon being in the cave and being guided by Khrishna who was attentive & kind. Amanda did an amazing job with the hike too. Was just such a bliss being out there in nature, while learning more about the Yanchep National Park. Highly recommend!!
Zen at the Zoo - a Beautiful Experience Zen at the Zoo - what a beautiful experience the guided walk around the Zoo before opening time was magical, topped off with a beginners Vinyasa session (yoga is always invigorating) on the Oak Lawn followed by a refreshing green juice. Fabulous way to start the weekend.
A wonderful day in nature I participated in the Zen at the Zoo event today and the whole experience was purely blissful. From the sounds of the waking gibbons welcoming a brand new day, to having the zoo all to ourselves for two wonderful hours. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around my favourite gardens in Perth and hearing all the wonderful stories about the zoo. The spot picked to do our yoga practice under the clouds was a beautiful spot and of course I enjoyed the yoga session so much. Being outdoors & hearing the sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling was magic to my ears and fuel for my soul! Thank you Hike Collective for an unforgettable experience.
Lakeside Peace The Forrestdale lake was beautiful, full of water and so peaceful. A fantastic hike to bring peace to the soul. The course is flat, so perfect for beginners, although slightly longer than advised, I found it worth the extra distance
Reconnecting with Nature Leighton was a wonderful host, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and generously shared his experience and personal story. It was amazing to reconnect with our beautiful Kings Park and as a local I wondered why I don’t visit it more often. I enjoyed getting to know the other hikers and what a great group I was fortunate to walk with, lots of interesting conversations. The weather was rainy at times but we unitedly squelched together in our soggy shoes to reach the end. A thoroughly inspiring walk and I look forward to doing more. Thanks Hike Collective! Karen, Perth WA
Hike on Rottnest Island Leighton & David were excellent guides. Their talks were informative, funny & entertaining. They included many interesting facts about the island plus animals from other areas around PerthSarah was amazing with her knowledge, demeanour and delivery to a range of ages and backgrounds. I would highly recommend any tour that she is delivering, and she definitely provided a lot of value to all the participants (My kids included). She even convinced one of my friends kids to become a ranger …. She’s only 9 years old!!!!
Thank you to the Hike Collective for your input
Unforgettable Experience — Yoga in a Cave & Walking Tour in National Park Janchep Amazing yoga class inside the cave — peaceful, fun, and full of emotion. The walking tour after was beautiful and relaxing. A great way to connect with nature and enjoy something unique!
Thank you to the lovely people who made this experience the wonderful morning it was! This was a beautiful experience, I initially booked in May for my Mum's birthday, and unfortunately due to the weather, we had to rebook! The Hike Collective team made the date transition so easy. The team at Perth Zoo & the lovely Yoga instructor were all an absolute delight, and made the experience unforgettable!
King's Park Botaninacal Gardens and Park On a perfect spring day the hike was awesome. Having a guide to explain some nuggest of history and show us little gems not noticed by the general public took a lovely morning walk to a compltely new level. From the Red River Gum planted in 1954 by Queen Elizabeth II and the Masquerade Kangaroo Paws to Kookaburra and wattle birds, gravellia and donkey orchids, the gardens and outer park area are a treasure to be uncovered in the world's largest inner city park.
The Amazing Colours of Araluen My fourth hike with Hike Collective and it was great! Catherine was a patient and informative hike leader, able to connect well with the group. The tulips in Araluen was amazing and the colours were stunning. Likely due to the bad weather, there weren’t many people in the park that day.
Loved the experience and beautiful views after the rains. Lovely experience with beautiful views. On the down side, the guide battled to keep a reasonable pace, even strolling he needed to stop. This left the group splintered as some slowed down and took the opportunity to enjoy the fauna and flaura, whilst others forged ahead, especially on the return trip.
On the plus side, his knowledge of photo composition was an unexpected bonus.
Yanchep Just back from a yoga session in yanchep cave and hike and really enjoyed our day.Even though the weather was cold wet and windy sarah our hike host was such a bubble of brightness full of smiles and enthusiasm and very informative with flora fauna and wildlife information
The cave experience was nice and yoga short but sweet
Highly recommend taking any hike with the hike collective
Thank you
An experience I will remember fondly
Karijini Night Sky - Expensive and disappointing This tour came highly recommended by a family member however the reality did not meet up with the expectations. It came across as a regurgitation of a huge number of facts, rather than a passionate person sharing their interest. The telescope was not very big, and what you could see through it was not that good to be honest. It was a freezing cold night which is obviously not the tour operator's fault, however the promised hot chocolate would have helped a lot. I was the last of the five to get mine, and I got half a cup of barely tepid, very weak, drink.
I always try to find something positive to say, but am struggling with this one. We both felt that $70 each was way too much.
Stargazing in Karijini NP Stargazing in the Dark Skies above Karijini NP. This was an enjoyable experience learning about the Night Sky. The guide was knowledgeable and easy to follow. Some areas for improvement - the hot chocolate was horrid, the guide needed a laser pointer and sadly, there were camp sights directly behind the telescope which corrupted our night vision. The guide is aware of my thoughts as I told her on the night.
Well worth it A beautiful start to a new day. A lovely walk through the zoo grounds, then a gentle glow through yoga session in a beautiful setting with the sounds of the animals permeating the tranquility. A lovely fresh juice before meeting more animals from the African Savannah and the Outback. Well organised by the team and insightful commentary from our guide
Karijini Kalamina and Dales Gorges Lindsay was a great guide, she made sure the hike was suited to all levels during our group Kalamina hike, including lending walking poles (thank you!) then tailored our private Dales Gorge tour to make sure we had an anniversary to remember including a picnic lunch at Fern Pool. Karijini was magical and Lindsay made sure we made the best of it, pointing out sights we’d have missed otherwise, loved it!
Beautiful hike, waterfall and sunset was the highlight The guide (Lindsay) was lovely. The sunset nibbles and drinks location was amazing. The local history Lindsay told us during the hike was fab.
Will definitely come again! We did the Yanchep Cabaret Cave yoga and hike. Well done Kate for setting up such a great business. Krystal made a great guide, was informative for the hike. The yoga in Cabaret cave was amazing. Thank you
Hike Virgin Deflowered in the best possible way! This was my first ever hike and yoga session in a cave and it was wonderful. The leaders were amazing and I loved the insights imparted by Crystal at different points of the hike regarding the area and its history made it extra special. As I have limited vision in my left eye and dodgy knees, I was grateful for the help of the guides and other participants. Will definitely be doing another one and have been given the kick up the bum to improve my fitness so I can do harder hikes!
A relaxed and friendly hike in a stunning environment The Paruna Reserve offers stunning scenery and is steep enough to get the heart rate up but the Quenda trail can be done in 3 hours, making it a perfect morning hike. Enjoy the view, see the wallabies, quendas and bandicoots, as well as the beautiful landscape.Erin is a friendly and professional guide who shared her knowledge freely.
add it to your list! We had a great guide. The group was friendly and fun!! It was really enjoyable and evenly paced for my first hike :)
Lovely experience A nice relaxing experience in beautiful surroundings. A mix of light yoga & meditation, followed by a selection of delicous freshly squeezed juices & a nice walk around some of the park.
Bold Park Hike Our guide was friendly and very Informative and even though it was a very hot it was a pleasant hike.
Great hike with lots of local information Great experience seeing something that we drive by all the time and forget how beautiful it is. Hike guides were knowledgeable and professional. we had a great time :)
A Wonderful Sunday Hike. A group of us Dldid the Lesmurdie Falls walk with Kellie from the Hike Collective on mid October. It was fabulous. Kellie and the other guide were very knowledgeable about flora, fauna and first-nations people history. I learned a lot and had a wonderful time. The guides set a good pace and were very aware of the ability of the participants. A wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. We will definitely go again.
Two Peaks on the Bibbulmun Hike Thank you Kelly and John! This is definitely one of the best hikes in the Perth region and it was great to learn about the wildflowers on the trail.
Amazing Trail at Quenda Trail at Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary Great intermediate hike. Super Hike Collective leaders Kelly and Domenica were amazing! Kelly so knowledgeable and now I know what Domenica was doing at the back taking those amazing photos to show us. Beautiful location, well organised. Heres to the next hike! I'll be back.
Good hike for endurance I enjoyed the 26km hike around Yaberoo Budjara trail from Burns Beach to Yanchep National Park. The hike was an easy path to follow with no tough hills to tackle. If you would like to see how you go over a longer period of time, then this is an ideal trail to tackle. I did it in 4 parts so you can jump on and off if you need to.
Wonderful local experience I recently visited Perth for 2 weeks and as I'm in the fitness industry I'm always looking for fun and different things to do in the local area that involves exercise and getting outdoors. I stumbled across The Hike Collective event at Yanchep National Park and what an absolute treat. Starting with a relaxing yoga class in a beautiful underground cave and then followed by a relaxing walk through the national park, it was the perfect morning out.
Took my bestie on the hike with me for the first time, we had a fantastic time ???????? Such a beautiful place, and the hike guide was awesome and knowledgeable about so much of the plants and history of the area.
well-organised and informative Great hike with lovely guides who were knowledgeable about the wildflowers and pointed them out as we walked. Organic juice and lavender biscuits at the end were a nice surprise!
Awesome The cave yoga was lovely and relaxing, the cave was beautiful. The hike was very simple, very informative and the weather was perfect.
Beautiful day A fabulous day, awesome experience with the lovely yoga instructor followed by lots of interesting information about the surrounding national park.
John Forrest National Park Ultimate Collection Guided Hike John Forrest National Park Ultimate Collection Guided Hike.An enjoyable hike around John Forrest National Park. Erin and Bernie were excellent guides being informative, maintaining an appropriate pace and assisting the group in navigating the trails. Extending the hike to Glenbrook Dam was a great idea. A great morning out for my first Hike Collective adventure. Looking forward to the next hike.
Best hiking group in Perth Western Australia I started hiking with Hike Collective in 2022 and Ive since done > 6 hikes with them. They are an excellent outfit, I always feel safe and supported. I have gone from beginner 6km hikes to intermediate 10km + hikes with multiple climbs. I have seen beautiful bush, wildlife and spectacular views. 5 stars
Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary Quenda Trail What a wonderful morning, Erin and her off sider Renate where so welcoming and great guides. Erin very informative on not just the area but all the plants birds, and rock out crops. We had a nice size group of nine and everyone seemed to walk at the same pace.We are so lucky to have these beautiful walks in out back yard, and so lucky to have Hike collective and staff to make them so accessible.
Thank you Erin and Renate and Hike Collective, I will certainly be booking more walks.
Kitty's Gorge Very enjoyable, ideal pacing and hosting by our two guides. Good company and wonderful slice of nature in the WA hills backyard.
Kings Park hike and bubbles Beautiful autumn weather for an afternoon enjoying the natural beauty of WA in the Botanic gardens and surrounding bush land. The guides shared their local knowledge and a few surprises. The grazing platter and champagne was a perfect finish to our day.
Kings Park walk Relaxing and informative walk. Hadn't been up to Kings Park in a decade. Good to note the changes that have occurred.
Awesome guided walk My husband, son and I along with friends, a group of around 11 of us walked the Victoria Dam/Korung National Park hike (Bickley area) late yesterday afternoon/early evening. Kelly, our guide was most informative about the history of this remote area. First time we had hiked with Hike Collective, felt very safe despite the walk being of a moderate rated walk, very hilly at times, 7kms (approx) ending up at Victoria Dam which was truly spectacular. Great to get out and about in our own 'back yard', especially with a guide. Will definitely be hiking again with this company, thanks so much.
A memorable adventure ✨️ It started with yoga in a cave, followed by a surprisingly easy hike with beautiful views and moments to take it all in and be very present with nature the whole experience was so unique and such a fantastic way to spend your Saturday morning, will definitely be joining the hike collective again for future different adventures.
Excellent opportunity Everything was fabulous . The cave yoga was fantastic experience. Bush walking was even better experience we never done before. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try?
What a fantastic day! What a fantastic day! The yoga in the cave was brilliant! The yoga was great and I appreciated the thoughtfulness of the teacher! I also really enjoyed the sound healing and meditation! The hike was good fun and I appreciated the hike leader's good knowledge of the area. All in all I had a great day! Thank you lots!
Lovely experience My girlfriend bought this for myself and her sister as birthday presentsSo it was lovely to do together for the 3 of us. I was born and bred in Perth and never knew about this cave. The cave is gorgeous and a really, special experience to do yoga in the cave. The yoga is a very easy level, more to do with stretching, breathing and enjoying the experience. I would suggest you bring a thicker mat than the 3mm mat as you are lying on concrete. They do have some extra mats, but limited numbers. They use some beautiful singing bowls to enhance the meditation at the end. Temperature of the cave is really pleasant. We wore shorts and t-shirts as it was a 31 degree day, with runners. Alot had on leggings. But they would be hot during the hike. We had a delicious fresh juice after yoga. We were able to put mats back into the car before the hike. Hike is a pleasant walk with a couple of hills. Pretty easy going with lots of stops for the guise to tell you an interesting story. We even got to see some koalas in the sanctuary..Overall a really lovely day.
beautiful summer morning that started by the Swan River with a tour guide giving a brief overview of the tour and guidance on paddling in a kayak. A group of 6 kayaks went in (2 in each) and it was a very comfortable, non strenuous paddling experience by the Point Walter cliffs with occasional stop over to hear about local history. Kayaks are very comfortable and easy to operate. Peaked inside caves, enjoyed beautiful clean water and had lots of fun paddling around the area. Then had morning tea and moved onto hiking up the top of the cliffs. Another great experience with very knowledgeable guide explaining local flora and fauna. Lovely views of the area, secluded little beaches were a gem to discover. Thank you to both guides and organisers, it was very much enjoyed by Perth locals that never ventured to that area of the city!
Summer Sundowner Golden View Mundaring My first hike with The Hike Collective and the Summer Sundowner Golden View Mundaring tour was amazing. It was a great workout with beautiful views and a perfect sunset. Erin and Maxine were so lovely and it was great to learn about the history of the area from Erin. Thank you The Hike Collective, I'm already looking forward to my next hike!
John Forrest NO Ultimate hike Great hike around John Forrest National park. The tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the trails and local history. Awesome group of solo hikers!
