The accommodation at SurfPoint resort was very pleasant indeed, with a warm communal vibe and managers who clearly care about providing clean and attractive accommodation for walkers. The communal kitchen and lounge areas were well provisioned.
The track itself was all that I had hoped for. Magnificent scenery, interesting vegetation and wildlife, and a perfect balance between some hard walking on soft sand and stretches of exhilarating limestone cliffs. The beaches are unspoiled, and although the surf was often dangerous, there were plenty of options for some safe swimming to cool down a weary walker.
All of the team love their work, know their area and maintain incredible standards.
As a solo self-guided guest, I saw, experienced and felt their commitment, kindness and efficiency ... from my first interaction with Gene until my departure.
Thank you to everyone at Cape to Cape Explorer Tours and Surfpoint Resort (the Bell Tent provided a little sanctuary ... highly recommended!)
I am not sure a written review can really convey how amazing the Cape to Cape experience is. I was travelling alone and so booked a guided group walk. I am not familiar with this area and so for me it was important to learn about the flora, fauna and local people and the landscape. There are also self guided options available. I was not able to make the full scheduled 8 days but Cape to Cape Explorer Tours gave me some flexible alternatives which meant I could go ahead and book. I was a little hesitant about booking as a solo traveller but I need not have been, it was perfect and I absolutely loved every minute. The guides that lead the daily walks all have different areas of expertise and are passionate about those areas. We learnt about geology, flora, fauna and the indigenous people. The guides were all great communicators, good fun and had some amazing stories to tell. Some of the participants were experienced hikers and others were not but the guides ensured the walks were enjoyable for all of us. The scenery was spectacular - turquoise seas fringed by pure white sandy beaches, the most beautiful wildflowers carpeting the route and the glorious karri trees of Boranup Forest. There were extra activities some days including a trip to a winery, a trip to a local brewhouse for dinner and a visit to a local farmers market. The food was absolutely fabulous, we made our own breakfasts and there was everything you could have possibly wanted but if there did happen to be anything else you fancied, you just had to ask and the next morning it would be there. There were snacks for morning tea and a packed lunch which we carried in our day packs After the walk there was a delicious dinner waiting and the portion sizes would satisfy even the largest of appetites. There are lots of little extra special touches such as footspas for after the daily walks, snacks such as cheese and crackers freely available and a wonderful selection of teas and coffees. The communal areas were spacious and very comfortable.
The team were all super friendly to the guests and to each other; like one big happy family where everyone mucks in and helps and nothing is too much trouble.
We were incredibly lucky to walk with a great group of fellow hikers; we started the week as strangers but ended it as friends!
I have made some very happy memories that will last a lifetime - well done Cape to Cape Explorer Tours for such a very special experience.
But !!!
We were hiking without guide and are reasonably good and fast walkers. As some days had rather short legs, we would have expected to be able to enjoy them quietly without having to wake up at insane hours in the morning, just to finish very early in the day. This was however not possible, despite our requests, as our transfers were (mostly) scheduled to match those of accompanied groups. This meant 7.30 AM departure to end our walk at 11.15 in the worst case. Similarly the last day we also had to depart super early just to wait over 2 hours at the end of the walk before we could be picked up for the return trip. This was really frustrating and somewhat spoiled the otherwise splendid experience. As self guided hikers we couldn’t help but feel like second class customers.
I knew I would see wildflowers this time of the season. But I had not in my wildest imagination dreamt of seeing so many wildflowers for the entire walk. 130 km. Bushes in full bloom, wild orchids and tiny, tiny flowers. Even the dreaded long shoe-sucking beaches had flowers. Amazing. And then the thunder of the mesmerising waves rolling in one after the other. The whales jumping in the distance. The tiny Hooded Plovers and Oystercatchers.
Yes, it was long walking days, but never ever boring. With each corner turned there were new landscapes, flora and fauna. Challenges to overcome and rewarding snacks and lunches to be enjoyed. So much fun, so much fresh air and so many memorable memories and sights.
What an incredible seven days! Breathtaking scenery, insightful and knowledgeable guides, and perhaps most rewarding of all, we met some truly amazing fellow hikers.
Cape to Cape Explorer tours crafted a truly unforgettable experience. Their meticulous organization and attention to detail far exceeded our expectations.
For me, a standout highlight was the wealth of history and information they shared on indigenous issues, such as land use.
So if you're eager to embark on the Cape to Cape hike, I highly recommend Cape to Cape Explorer tours as a truly exceptional company to consider
I loved learning more about the local area and its stories along the way. What made this tour group stand out from others is the fact all the guides are local people with true local knowledge.
Each section of the walk had its own personality and the scenery was just breathtaking. The accommodation and food were great, and it was clear how much thought goes into every detail. Me personally, I requested dairy free food and could not emphasise enough how well I was catered for from start to finish. The food was so delicious!
I came away feeling proud (so so proud!!), calm, and really grateful for the experience. Huge thanks to the whole team for making it such an unforgettable week. I cannot wait to go on the Bibbulmun next with you.
The catering team cooked the most delicious evening meals, morning teas and amazing lunches.
Surfpoint is the perfect location and encourages all the hikers to hang out together in the shared facilities. The laundry is great too. The staff are so delightful and nothing is too much.
Our drivers were always on time, knowledgeable and took us to some delicious spots for snacks and dinner in the evenings too.
The guides were sensational. Super knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate about the geology, flora, fauna, indigenous history and European history and making sure the C2C is conserved and valued so it can be used by hikers for decades to come. All the little surprises and special touches don't go unnoticed either, so thank you guides and CCET!
If you're nervous about joining a group as a solo walker , I wouldn't bother. By the end you'll have new friends and will have had many laughs and made many special memories in the process.
Thanks for a brilliant 8 days CCET and well done. Loved every minute even the sandy beaches!!
I cannot praise the Cape to Cape team enough. From Gene answering our questions, to the kitchen for our delicious meals and the logistics team who arranged our pick ups/drop offs (special kudos to Lucy and Scott). My friend had a shoe induced injury the first day, so we changed our itinerary, which the Cape to Cape tram handled with aplomb, kindness and patience. I really can’t thank them enough. So if you want a challenging, scenic walk, with great food and a #1 pit crew having your back, this is the team to use!
Tip: if self guided, take the actual full guide book (which Cape to Cape will provide) with you or take pics of that days walk instructions. Some sections (eg beach walks) don’t have markers, so it’s easy to get lost and you will def need the guide for the areas with no phone reception.
They have plenty of tour options and if you want a mix of walking and sight seeing they have a Highlights option.
There is also after walk activities like wine/cheese tasting at a winery.
Also don't be frightened to go as a solo Traveller as you won't be by the end of the tour.
The staff were awesome
Our guide, Colin Fox, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate. We truly appreciated the seamless transfers to and from our accommodation, the delicious cookie and lunch box, and above all, the breathtaking variety of landscapes we encountered throughout the hike. A lovely final touch was being served hot tea at the end, such a warm and comforting way to conclude the adventure!
It was an unforgettable experience and absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a taste of the Cape to Cape Track but who may be short on time!
Guides very professional, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble.
The 5 night Bibbulmum from Walpole to Peaceful Bay is a beautiful part of the track. A great experience.
Many thanks to the Cape to Cape team
And what an incredible company!!
The enthusiasm and passion of every member of the team is overwhelming… not to mention the incredible food, comfortable accommodation, transport to and from the track and the manner in which everyone bent over backwards to make sure our experience was the best one possible. Each super friendly local guide shared their knowledge to enhance our understanding of the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area. And those million dollar views along the coast were worth every single step!
For a business that has grown exponentially over the last few years and operates, what must be a logistical minefield, it blows my mind that the business founder/owner, Gene, still answers initial enquiries on his phone... this guy is super down to earth, friendly as f@#* and nothing is a problem! 👌
We stayed at Margarets Beach Resort for the duration of our 7 day hike in a 1 bed spa aptmt ... I enjoyed the pool after a day's hike and my wife loved the spa!
We were amply provided with brekkie rations, lunch & dinner for the duration too...and everything was so fresh and yummy!
The drivers we had - Hannah, Mal, Colin, James & BreeZ were great value, very knowledgeable & just top notch folk! (special mention to BreeZ and the laughs we had en route Day 7 ....priceless!! 🤣👌)
And the 'Capes' herself.... well what can I say! She ALWAYS delivers! We were treated to wonderful weather and spectacular views!
BIG Thanks to the C2CET team for looking after us! I will continue to recommend you to everyone! 💚🌳🌞
Gene, enthusiastically and joyfully picked us up in a mini bus for our wonderful day.
While hiking Gene imparted his knowledge of the Cape to Cape, captivating both adults and children, we discovered that Western Australia was connected to the Indian subcontinent of the supercontinent Gondwana approximately 130 million years ago sharing the same black boulders to this day, indigenous culture, the flora and fauna. A great picnic lunch was provided.
We kayaked the local river, then Gene had us playing a game, when we first entered Mammoth Cave, so much fun!
Thanks to Gene’s great knowledge and organisational skills we had a wonderful day.
Very well organized, knowledgeable and friendly staff and guides who pointed out details and greatly enhanced my knowledge about, and understanding of, this part of Australia. Individual needs were met with creativity and a smile. Living at Surfpoint, glamping, was comfortable and uncomplicated. CCET seems truly committed to caring for the environment they work in and their local community. I highly recommend the hike and CCET.
They absolutely love and respect the land, nature, their guests and their employees. They're there for you every step of the way, making things easy and ensuring you have fun along the way. Every single detail is taken care of, the organisation is absolutely perfect, the guides and the people behind the scenes are totally in tune. You'll be personally taken care of and all your personal requests will be catered for. You can see that they are passionate about what they do and they are clearly the best at it.
It was a pleasure to see their dedication to Track and to nature, and every day I was surprised by something new and exciting, as they far exceeded all expectations.
The food is fresh, very tasty and there is a very generous supply of tea and coffee available. The accommodation is lovely.
I simply loved the Cape To Cape experience and cannot recommend them highly enough. I was truly blessed with our wonderful group.
The whole trip was an absolute joy and I'm so grateful to CCET for making it all happen. All I had to do was show up every morning and walk – they did all the rest! Thank you and well done, CCET!
The spring flowers were out, and the weather generally played ball with cool to moderate temperatures. The scenery was magnificent, and the track was pretty easy to navigate with only a few off-piste adventures. If you cannot make time for the whole trip, or don't think you can manage the full 123km, consider the highlights option. We added a wine tasting tour at the end which finished our trip in delightful fashion.
Our accomodation was first rate, the food plentiful and tasty and nothing was too much problem for the C2C team. Our drivers were friendly and knowledgeable and Floss from catering was amazing, Thank you Gene and team for an unforgettable week. We especially enjoyed your recommendation to eat at the Brewhouse. Will definitely be looking at a return in the future.
I had the privilege of hiking with a bunch of people (local and interstate) that kept me laughing all the way.
A huge thank you to all the CCET team I met and the ones I didn’t - your countless hours of work were appreciated.
My ‘glamping’ was very comfortable and all meals were amazing.
This well organised adventure is provided by passionate, knowledgeable and entertaining humans.
Thank you all !
Nothing was too much trouble, communication was great, Gene and the entire team were warm, happy, informative.
We did the 7 day self guided walk. Accommodation, transportation and logistics were well organized.
The breakfast supplies were plentiful and the meals delicious.
Oh and the walk itself… spectacular and challenging! Wonderful experience overall!
Big shout out to the wonderful CCET crew, Randall, Sophie, Colin, Rusty, Kristie, Bree, Nic, Floss, & Archie to name a few. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and we could tell that they love what they do. The accommodation was great and the food was sensational (thankyou to the catering crew :-) ) The wonderful thing about this tour is that it allowed us to simply walk and enjoy the beauty of the area. CCET took great care of the rest.
Shara & Adrian
The itinerary, accommodation, staff, food, scenery was all beyond my expectations.
