Kangaroo Nightlife and then some Tour guide Luka was great with our small group showing us birds, roos, wallaby, possum, spiders and penguins and more on our night tour. Can’t recommend this tour enough, it was a highlight of our 18 days in AU.

Kangaroo Island Tour Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and personable. She went out of her way to be sure we saw animals. She also was very flexible and we stayed as long as we wanted at each location. The vehicle was much nicer than expected, very comfortable and everyone could see. We wish cold water was offered more frequently, we had to ask. It was a very hot day. The lunch while good did not match description of being gourmet. There could also have been more food. Biggest negative was using Trip Advisor to make the reservation. It was a real pain. There were way too many emails involved to make the reservation. When we were directly in contact with the provider it was easy.

This was one of the best guided tours we’ve ever done. Nikki Redman was phenomenal - warm, patient, and impressively knowledgeable. Every stop left us speechless, but what truly made the day special was Nikki’s narration: the way she described the wildlife, landscapes, and life on Kangaroo Island was heartfelt and inspiring. You could feel her love for the island in every detail. Unforgettable experience!

Excellent nocturnal wildlife trip with lots of sightings We had an excellent nocturnal wildlife spotting trip with Luca. We saw possums, wallabies, Roos, a koala and penguins. Luca is very knowledgeable and made it a very interesting evening. We would highly recommend as you need his keen eye to spot some of these elusive creatures.

Incredible experience with Nikki! Wow what an amazing experience. We spent an incredible two days touring KI with our warm, friendly and exceptionally knowledge guide Nikki. She’s originally from KI so she has deep understanding of the island wildlife, history and the geography. As an animal expert she knows exactly where to find the best areas for viewing. She has also published a beautiful book of her own KI wildlife photography - a great souvenir from our visit. Be sure to ask for Nikki when you reserve this amazing adventure.

Fantastic day! We had a fantastic day around the island with Nicki (?) we also had a nice barberque lunch. the guide was very responsive and knowledgeable. We saw fur seals, kangoroos, koslas and we saw a lot of beutiful places around the island.

Worth the trip We had a great time seeing so many sights and animals on Kangaroo Island. Our guide Nikki was all we could have asked for! She took really great care of us. I don't think it's possible to do Kangaroo Island in less time and it's worth the splurge getting a knowledgeable guide who can help you spot hard to see koalas and know where there will be kangaroos. If you want to experience all that Kangaroo Island has to offer, I recommend taking this tour.

Fantastic tour A fantastic tour to discover the most beautiful parts of Kangaroo Island with Luca, a fantastic guide who explained everything there was to know, recommended.

Great experience! We took a tour with Hire a Guide on Kangaroo Island, which is a magnificent small island near Adelaide. It was a truly emotional experience; we walked and saw the unspoiled nature of this island, where the animals are free, so we saw them in their natural habitat.
The experience, which was already beautiful on its own, was made even better by our guide, Nikki, who accompanied us for the entire tour. With her 4x4 and her knowledge of the island's various roads, we were able to see many different places in a relatively short amount of time, stopping at beaches and also in some clearings.
We saw kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, and sea lions (watching the pups run toward the sea just a short distance from us was wonderful). Nikki is an expert on animals; she knows so much, and her words reveal her love for the island and for nature, a love that is also evident in the respect she has for the animals (we got close but always kept our distance so as not to scare them away). She also takes amazing photos!

Kangaroo Island in 2 days without missing anything and just enjoying it! The best way to visit Kangaroo Island without missing a thing! Our guide Luca knew all the spots and time where to be to see wildlife and incredible sceneries. Probably we would have been missing 50% of things travelling alone on a rented car. Luca knows very well the island where he has been leaving for many years and he is also a true wildlife expert. Check out Luca’s incredible pick of a seal eating an octopus at Seal bay! You can sit back and relax just enjoying the experience. The barbecue was really nice, and, in the afternoon, we got also a special taste of Italy with a real Italian coffee made on a Bialetti moka coffee maker, some hot chocolate for the kids and typical Australian cookies. Money well spent!

Kangaroo Island Nocturnal tour Wonderful night tour with Colin. He took us to some fabulous places to see all the animals that are very active in the evening. We were also fortunate to see some penguins, which were a nice bonus!

The itinerary covers a lot of this beautiful island without feeling rushed, with an interesting commentary and various incidental experiences as we travelled around. Enjoyable, expert photo tour Without Nikki Redman we would have missed 95% of the island and its richness. Kangaroo Island is in her blood. Nikki knows the back roads, how to avoid the tour buses, etc. She is a naturalist and photographer and published photo author. By luck, having Nikki as our guide matched our tour preferences to a perfection. Nikki prepared a great lunch on the barbie, was very sensitive to our love of nature and wanting to get all the best angles . sometimes we had a surprise like the echidna or monitor lizard. "Crouch down, move when I move, walk like you are on ice ." Thank you Nikki! Great day tour.

Great way to see someone the highlights of the island. We had a great day on this tour. Luca was very knowledgeable and made sure that we saw wildlife. The highlights for us were seeing the Koalas, seals and sea lions. Luca made us a good barbecue lunch complete with wine. Would highly recommend this tour. Luca has promised to send some of the photos that he took on his camera of the wildlife and we look forward to receiving these.

A perfect tour for Italians, but not just for them Personally, I'm not particularly fond of organized tours. In safe places like Australia, you can rent a car and set off on your own adventure. However, Kangaroo Island is an area of farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. It’s not primarily a tourist destination, and if you really want to see kangaroos and koalas, you need an experienced guide. We relied on "Kangaroo Island hire a Guide." Our guide, Luca, is an Italian who has lived here for decades and knows every aspect of this place.

Luca took us to the right spots to observe everything this extraordinary island has to offer in its natural habitat. He also helped us understand what it means to live in such a beautiful and remote location. We spent the entire day in a comfortable 4x4. What was supposed to be a picnic lunch turned into a barbecue by the sea. We Italians also enjoyed our usual coffee break, prepared in the traditional way with a real moka pot. (Luca assured me that for non-Italian tours, he still offers delightful teatime.)

Noi ci siamo affidati a "Hire a Guide". La nostra guida, Luca, è un italiano che vive qui da decenni e conosce ogni aspetto di questo posto.
Luca ci ha condotti nei luoghi giusti per osservare in natura tutto ciò che questa straordinaria isola ha da offrire. Ci ha anche fatto comprendere cosa significhi vivere in un luogo così bello e remoto. Abbiamo trascorso l'intera giornata a bordo di un comodo 4x4. Quello che doveva essere un pranzo al sacco si è trasformato in una grigliata vicino al mare. Noi italiani abbiamo avuto anche la nostra consueta pausa caffè, preparata come da tradizione con una vera moka. (Luca mi ha assicurato che nei tour non italiani offre comunque invitanti teatime.)

What an experience of a lifetime - amazing! Luca provided a very interesting and knowledgeable tour for my husband and I. We saw native animals up close in their natural environment. It really was amazing. To see animals such as wallabies in the wild feeding their young, mother koala with a baby and an echidna having a dig for dinner. Totally recommend this tour it was excellent. Best experience ever We were very lucky to have been on the most amazing tour we have been on, with Nicki the greatest guide. She was so knowledgeable, fun and friendly and our three children aged 9, 11 and 13 were totally fascinated with all the stories she had to tell about the Kangaroo Island wildlife. A Memora Experience with an Exceptional Guide. I was so very impressed with the two day tour with Nikki. Although I have experienced many very good to excellent tours in my travels, rarely have I encountered a tour guide as knowledgeable and passionate for a subject or place as Nikki is for Kangaroo Island.
I booked the tour for September 2nd and 3rd, 2024 and my husband and I flew to Kangaroo on September 1st. We found we were the only persons on the tour because the ferry service, the usual way for most to reach the island, was not operating for several days.
The tour was thoroughly enjoyable and the lunches, eaten outdoors, were surprisingly good.
I highly recommend this tour, if possible, in a seaon when fewer people visit the island.

Nikki is a fantastic and very knowledgeable guide, with a great knowledge of the island from all points of view. She transmitted to us the passion for her island and how to protect it. We spent a wonderful day with also a bit of luck that allowed us to see many animals, beautiful landscapes and the right closing with an extraordinary rainbow.
The pumpkin soup prepared by Luca for our lunch time was so good😋.
Luca accompanied us on the interesting night tour and showed us the animals that live at night.

Well what can I say, we have just had the BEST day.

Our brains are bursting from the amount of things we've learnt - to say Nikki is an expert would be an understatement! We saw so much - sea lions, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, echidnas, dolphins, parrots, various birds....

She was so lovely with our two daughters, she quickly learned our youngest is a koala fanatic and made sure we saw lots and learnt plenty!

We enjoyed the most delicious BBQ and a glass of wine with a sea view. Special thanks to Luca for preparing this and for providing vegetarian treats for me :)

It was a great and fun tour! It was just the 4 of us on the tour so was very personal and comfortable. Luca was very knowledgeable. We saw Pelicans, wallabies, koala, kangaroos, penguins and even did star gazing. We were able to get on and off the vehicle to view the nocturnal animals closer. Definitely recommend this tour!

The Best Tour I can’t say enough good things about this touring company! They go above and beyond to make your trip special. We took 2 day tours with them and a night safari. We saw sooo many animals and they know where to look for them. Don’t consider anyone else!

Best way to see Kangaroo Island Our experience with KI Hire a Guide was absolutely 5 stars. We did the nocturnal tour with Luca and the day tour with Nikki, both of whom were fabulous. Nikki was very enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable, and so much fun. She helped us spot a lot of animals including an echidna, koalas in trees and on the ground, kangaroos, eagles, sea lions & pups. The tour included a fabulous lunch cooked on the barbecue. We would highly recommend requesting Nikki for a day tour - she is absolutely phenomenal. Luca is very quick to respond to questions and pays attention to all the details when organizing the tours. He was great at spotting nocturnal activity during our night tour (including an echidna, penguins, opossums, kangaroos, an owl, and tons of wallabies of course). 10/10 recommend KI Hire a Guide.

Two great tour days - two great Guides! Enjoyed a fabulous day yesterday on the Seal Bay Tour with Nikki & also did the Flinders Chase tour with Luca last week. Both Guides have such great knowledge to share about flora & fauna , history & current issues. Great to have someone with local knowledge to drive us to places we’d never find or visit otherwise and know where to find the native fauna in their natural habitat. We saw lots! Lunch & comfy vehicle ride included. Highly recommend!

110% recommend doing this tour, so worthwhile hiring a guide to Wow, what an incredibly enjoyable day! Nikki made the whole day so wonderful for our family. Her enthusiasm, wealth of knowledge and love for Kangaroo Island shone through. From the accommodating side jaunts for our bird phtotography interest, to the magic of Seal Bay, the spotting of koalas and echidnas and the delicious lunch.

Luca was a wonderful guide for our one-day tour of Kangaroo Island! He took us all around the southern part of the island and made sure that we had the opportunity to visit as many sites as possible during our short time there. And, boy, did we love our barbie lunch!! What a neat, special day!!!

Luca was amazing. He communicated appropriately and was really courteous. He showed us so much more than the large buses, and he was very knowledgeable. He even was an amazing chef with a very personal lunch. I recommend him for anyone who wants to have a private tour of the island.

Nice, but not worth the cost We had a lovely day on the West End Wildlife Tour, but it wasn’t anything we couldn’t have planned on our own and was a bit expensive for what we got. We went to Flinders Chase and Remarkable Rocks, but we definitely could have found those on our own. Our tour guide didn’t give too much additional information about the island. The best part of the day was koala spotting in the trees and the drive through a very kangaroo heavy area. I would only suggest this if you are short on time. Otherwise, it isn’t worth the cost.

Loved not only the tour but also the storytelling and great conversation we had with our guide, Luca.
We spotted kangaroos, wallabys, opossums, penguins and even a koala!!! All of this under a sky full of stars and a big shiny moon. Cover up, it's chilly at night, but you'll be warm and comfy in the van. Recommended!!

However, because he has a smaller, 4WD Mercedes bus, he could take us to a lot of places off of the main road:
• which is where we saw lots of wildlife, including kangaroos, many koalas, including 2 who were no more than 10-15 feet away and 1 of the most beautiful birds we have ever seen - a blue wren.

• several beautiful and often secluded beaches.

If you’re going on a big tour bus, you’ll never be able to go to those places.
