An exceptional sunset dinner cruise - the food, sunset views, staff, boat - everything The Cape Adieu Sunset Dinner Cruise was a five star experience we are so very pleased we did. When we got to the wharf just before the 5pm the weather wasn't looking great as black clouds had appeared. The staff were great and suggested we relax and get a drink at the nearby bar as they were going to delay the start until the rain passed. This is exactly what happened - there was a big downpour which we enjoyed the spectacle of after our three week holiday in Northern Territory in complete dry and extreme heat. We were then called onto the boat and allocated to Table 2 on the front deck which suited us perfectly. We had no cover but the rain had stopped and the staff were busy drying the tables and seating so all was quickly dry.

Darcy was our server and she attended to us and the fifteen or so others on that deck with friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency. There was an extensive drinks menu with cocktails, wine, beers, spirits, etc. I opted for a Pink Panther cocktail (Pink lemonade, vodka, Malibu,lime) which I'd never heard of but was the perfect drink as it was so refreshing. My husband had a Green Ant Gin and Tonic complete with green ant which is apparently a delicacy in this part of the world. I resisted that one.

The sun was back out and we were only half an hour or so late leaving. This was added to the end of the cruise so we didn't miss out at all. Apparently this was the first time rain had disrupted their sailing since starting the business last year but we didn't see any sign of that as all the staff handled it so well.

Everything was fantastic - the sunset, the food, the people we chatted to on the next table and we even had a marriage proposal! One minute a young couple were taking photos at the bow of the boat near us and next he was down on bended knee. She said yes!

The food was outstanding - how they produced this in a boat galley I do not know - it was worthy of a Michelin starred restaurant. We had a delicious appetiser - an 'Amuse Bouche' and then a platter with ceviche, oysters and prawns. All were delicious. For main course there was a choice of Local NT Barramundi or Wattle Seed and Pepper Berry Scotch Fillet and we chose one of each. Both were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Dessert was a creme custard base with strawberries, blueberries and kiwi fruit. Again all delicious and beautifully presented.

I was avoiding drinking too much as being on a boat I was not sure of the toilet situation. Then the lady next to me told me it was fabulous and I should go and see it. She was right! It was down some steps behind the captain (so I got a great view of the ship's bridge) and was really nice to my amazement. Spotless clean and spacious with lovely toiletries - it could not have been further from my expectations. Too bad I didn't have time for another cocktail! There were other rooms next to it - the boat was a lot bigger than I expected below deck. All the guests were seated on the outside level decks - this was the private area of the boat for the owners.

Top tip: We only booked Cape Adieu a couple of days before when we were arriving in Darwin on The Ghan. Lots of people on the train seemed to be doing a sunset cruise once in Darwin so we started looking at them. The one everyone seemed to be doing was booked up so we quickly booked Cape Adieu as there was space (the last two places I suspect as it was full). How lucky we were! When we came to board the vessel that The Ghan people were on was near Cape Adieu - it was a huge catamaran with most seating inside a big cabin that looked soulless. We were so glad that one was full and we got on Cape Adieu. We can highly recommend everything about Cape Adieu - we had the most lovely evening and will always remember it.

A "5 Star Experience" This is no ordinary harbour cruise. Right from the 'welcome aboard' we knew that this was going to be a memorable experience. An amazing four course meal, apparently prepared by the versatile skipper Munro - amazing seafood and steaks, worthy of a 5 star restaurant. Grace and the rest of the crew could not have been more obliging. We recommend this to anyone visiting Darwin.

A must do in Darwin I'm not even sure where to start.. it was such an amazing experience on the ship. Staff was lovely, food was amazing, cocktails were yummy and the atmosphere unbeatable. We loved every minute of it and cannot wait to go again. What a gem to have in Darwin. Thank you Cape Adieu for an unforgettable evening

Nice but food disappointing Cruise was good insofar as the sunset but unfortunately the food was disappointing considering the cost. My steak came out cold and one member of our party had her barramundi main come out 10-15 minutes after the rest of the parties meals came and when it
eventually came out it was clearly just the scraps. Wait staff were friendly and engaging but the food was a big let down.

Friendly staff The booking process through TripAdvisor was a nightmare. I was booking this trip in Australia for an Australian trip & was unaware through the booking process that the price per person displayed on the site was actually in USD. Which was misleading as I paid more than I thought I was going to pay. I had actually booked tickets through another site at a cheaper rate (B.com). But I had to take my 12yo with us as I couldn’t leave her in the hotel by herself, so needed to buy an extra ticket. I did reach out via email directly to the cruise company to ask about getting a ticket for my 12yo but they didn’t respond. So I went through TripAdvisor, & had to pay full price for her (& what I thought was a good price ended being more because it was in USD). So overall the most expensive boat trip I’ve been on. I think offering the first drink as part of the package when arriving would have been more welcoming. The 3 stars are for the great staff on the boat. Zero stars for TripAdvisor/Viator.

What a way to end a day! The sunset tour was perfect from start to finish. Lovely chatty staff, beautiful fresh food and comfortable settings for the 2 12 journey.

At first I was a little reticent about the cost for a couple. However in hind-sight it was well valued.

The food was exceptional, what a great chief. Olly's service on the top deck was in the same category. He didn't miss a beat.

The sailing and sunset was very memorable.

Fantastic sunset cruise! Our sunset cruise on the Cape Adieu was fabulous. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. Watching the sunset from the bay was spectacular. I highly recommend this cruise.

Cape Adieu a MUST DO! Absolutely fantastic. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The view was absolutely stunning and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had. The food was amazing. Every dish was delicious and the perfect size right from the entree through to desert . The drinks were very reasonably priced. This is a MUST DO if your in Darwin.

Whether visiting Darwin or a local - this cruise is a must! Took my family on a cruise with Cape Adieu. From the warm reception as we boarded to the introductions and personal welcome from new-ish owners Grace and Munro followed by the service throughout the cruise, the hospitality was relaxed, yet attentive and genuine! The food portions were generous and delicious (that smoked mackerel is incredible!!!) and drinks were cold and plentiful. The commentary was interesting and informative and notably, personal - not just some scripted or pre recorded token tourist info stuff but instead offered anecdotes about their own time in the top end which made for a pleasant change for us having been on multiple cruises over the years. Plus it wasn't too intrusive so we could still keep talking amongst our group without feeling like we had to stop anytime they were talking.

Whether visiting or a local, I could not recommend this tour highly enough.

What a way to celebrate our wedding anniversary We sailed with Cape Adieu in late October. Monroe and Grace are the new owners of the business and we were immediately impressed by how hard they both worked along with their crew to make sure we had a terrific time.
The food was lovely. My wife loves her prawns and she certainly had my share. 😃.
They make sure you are happy with your drinks before setting sail. Janz champers for us which is one of our favourites.

So Good 😍 What a fabulous cruise operated by a lovely young, hardworking couple. From the moment our party of 7 boarded we received great service from the crew. The sights of Darwin Harbour & beyond were amazing as was the seafood entree & lovely main course. Great understanding & response to needs of my celiac husband. Booked after reading reviews & so glad we did.

Beautiful sunset and excellent meal This trip was recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint. The crew were really friendly and welcoming and the whole trip was well organised. The trip round the harbour was lovely and the sunset just perfect but the food was beyond expectations. Loved every moment of it.

A relaxing and scenic cruise with 👌🏼👌🏼 food and drinks The cruise was super relaxed with good tunes and food! The tables and layout of the boat made getting around to take in the views easy, and the seating was comfortable when you were sitting down to relax/eat.
The green ant gin and soda, smoked mackerel and crocodile skewers were super tasty and location appropriate as well.

Darwin sunset - beautiful If you only have a limited amount of time to enjoy Darwin - this is a perfect way to spend an evening. This is a young husband & wife run business who are actively involved in making sure you are comfortable & provide a great service. Support small business, they always go the extra mile

Sunset Dinner cruise A lovely way to spend a couple of hours enjoying Darwin's beautiful sunset! The food and wine was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Only drawback was we ordered the salmon for main which we think afterwards was threadfin salmon. Never heard of it and was not cooked 'crispy skinned' as we enquired and were assured it would be. Would never have guessed the crumbed fish was any sort of salmon in a million years, by taste or appearance, but okay nonetheless.
The service was excellent as was the quality of each course which included Coffin Bay oysters, prawns, dips, breads, a variety of fresh salads and fresh tropical fruits. Big shout out to the slim man (Shane?) who used to own the boat who was very attentive with providing our drinks upon embarking and ensuring everyone was looked after and provided commentary throughout.
Unimpressed with the very overweight man who opened the gate and proceeded to engage and process entry with everyone except the women who were quite obviously lined up right in front of the gate, and who then continued to engage with and admit other patrons away from the gate! Not impressed with this blatant oversight.

Worth Every Cent Fantastic, worth every cent, strongly RECOMMENDED, {the only disappointing part was when we saw the crocodile swimming in the port we thought will have HIM for dinner, it didn't happened, ha ha}.

Relaxing sunset cruise Loved our sunset cruise. Friendly crew provided great service. Fabulous playlist complemented the beautiful sunset. We did the cruise only option. Nice dips provided to start the evening then we self catered our own food. Cold drinks at reasonable prices. Would highly recommend this company

A Bloody Good Cruise Excellent cruise. The staff were wonderful. Great service by our waiter (young English lad). The chef was amazing and effortlessly catered to my dietary requirements (coeliac disease).

Exceptional experience What an incredible experience I was not disappointed. I booked this cruise after seeing it was voted Darwin’s best seafood restaurant. So true. The seafood starter was delicious the smoked mackerel especially. The salmon and steak for mains were mouth watering. The staff were attentive, polite and helpful. The vessel its self is beautiful and provide us with such a great evening in Darwin. Would recommend to anyone great way to spend my last evening here
